A Hearty Welcome to Our AI Overlords!

And to you, too, dear reader.

The Good, The Bad, and The AI is an AI newsletter drafted each week by an AI we named Hux (after writer Aldous Huxley). We told the AI what we wanted this newsletter to be like and it built a custom workflow that searches the web for the best, worst, and weirdest AI news, summarizes it all, writes jokes, and tries its damndest to replace the professional writers, editors, and marketers who created it.

To that end, tGtB&tAI is edited by Kyle J. Britt with writing and editing support from John Davis and Sven Britt. We thoroughly edit all content, validate links, fact check, and generally stop Hux from hallucinating good news about himself.

So this newsletter is part actual AI news with a dose of gallows humor, as promised, and part social and technological experiment.

Is AI a net good for society?

To get serious for a second, this is actually what we’re exploring with this newsletter. We may be tounge-in-cheek and a little dark, plus maybe a little hypocritical for our use of AI if you find yourself on the “AI is bad” side of the argument, but we are actually trying to answer something that feels like maybe the most important question of our time.

Paid subscribers will get extra posts from the humans breaking down what the AI produced vs what we sent out and behind the scenes details of how we’re learning and tweaking the AI to get even better.
